By Lindsay Brunson
In Columbus Ohio’s Arena District, a line stretches around the corner of A & R Music Bar. Xana is about to play a sold out show. As the venue fills, the crowd is overflowing with an anticipatory joy. There are no strangers in this room. It’s as if coming to this show immediately grants concert goers access into a friend group, united by a passion for Xana’s music.
As Xana steps up to her floral mic stand the crowd erupts into cheers. The energy is off the charts as Save The Bullets, Baby begins. From the second she steps on stage Xana is creating memorable moments with fans; giving attention to every inch of the corner shaped stage. It’s evident from the start that this show is about more than just the incredible music as Xana works the crowd, even collecting friendship bracelets from eager fans.
Twice throughout the night, Xana plucks a fan from the audience to come on stage and choose the next song. Their elation is tangible as they interact with Xana. It’s in these moments that the care Xana has for her fans truly shines through. She allows them to experience the roller coaster of emotions, while warmly and gently guiding them through the song options.
For the encore, we are given the chance to hear an amazing new song and somehow the energy in the already ecstatic crowd hits a new high. Before closing the show Xana plays a fan favorite, 4ever, as fans wave handmade cards sporting the song’s title. It’s a truly beautiful moment that feels straight out of a movie as the adoration from Xana’s fans is reflected back to them in her performance.
