King Tuff Reigns Over Lincoln Hall
By Christopher David
Vermont indie-rocker King Tuff brought a raucous live show to Lincoln Hall this week in support of new record MOO—as much a rallying cry as an album title, as it turned out, with Tuff calling for the crowd to moo instead of clapping, which they did throughout the night (though one particularly loud attendee decided to bleat like a sheep)—perfectly on point for an artist who desires to speak their truth, as Tuff has noted that MOO is an album that arrived after trying to find himself again.
“You guys got raccoon problems? This is about those fuckers,” he noted while introducing new song “Crosseyed Critters,” and diehard fans were surely thrilled by the fan that Tuff played the entirety of the ten-song record in a nineteen song set that dipped periodically into the back catalog for the fuzzy, psychedelic “Black Moon Spell,” “Sun Medallion,” and set closer “Bad Thing,” which was preceded by a tight, faithful cover of Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me.”
